Whose Graduation Party Was It?

Home-schooling four sons through high school takes commitment, time, and a lot of energy. Down to the last two, our identical twin sons, I was seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. I was beginning to envision life without coming home from work to tutor!

I began joking that after the twins graduated, I would throw a party—for me! There was that feeling of having graduated, not just once myself, but an additional four times.

I did throw a party—but it wasn’t for me. We managed to pull off a three-for-the-price-of-one Graduation Party.

With three graduates—Tyler and Tyrel from high school, and Jamie with an Associates in Biblical Studies from the Anderson Theological Seminary—it was quite the party!

Cleaning up afterwards, I couldn’t help but reflect on how our family has grown up. Our children have grown into  young men. They have grown into young men that we’re proud to call our sons.

They are ready to spread their wings and soar into adulthood, ready to soar into the rest of their lives. Maybe I deserved a party—but they deserved it more.

I am a pastor’s wife, former missionary, mother of four great sons (and a wonderful daughter-in-law!), and author of three Christian suspense novels: Betrayed, Identity Revealed, and A Murder Unseen. (Available at: Amazon.com.) I have a passion for God, my family, and writing!

Congratulations! You do deserve a party! I have graduated 3 from homeschooling with three to go!

More power to you! LOL! I didn’t mind it when I was a stay-at-home mom (which still means you’re really busy!), but once I needed to work full-time out of the home plus keep the tutoring going so they could complete high school by correspondence…well, it got exhausting! One less thing on my plate now. 🙂
