Sometimes Dreams Do Come True

Sometimes dreams come true.

Our eldest son, Joe, has been interested in the military since he was a youngster.  Today was the culmination of that long-term dream as he was sworn in to the Air National Guard this afternoon.

As you can see, Matt—which, of course, is my wonderful husband and his dad!—and Joe’s wife were there for the momentous occasion. Yours truly? Well, there’s this thing called work. I did, however, join the “after-the-swearing-in” celebration at Mi Casa Mexicana. That’s the only restaurant in town that serves empanadas, which is a special food reminiscent of our years in Venezuela! A special treat for a special day.

When does he ship off for basic training? Not immediately—much to his disappointment! It will be sometime this fall that he will head off for that. But he’s in, he’s happy, and he’s part of the Air National Guard!

Yes, sometimes dreams do come true!
