When Writer’s Block is a Good Thing

I love it right now. I feel the stirrings of writer’s block. What? If you are a writer, I know you’re wondering how that can be a good thing! But bear with me. It really is a good thing. I simply find a lack of something on my mind to write about right now. Some might be ready to say that sounds boring—until they look at the alternative.

I’ve been writing of doctor visits, chemotherapy, hospital stays in the ICU, and blood transfusions. I’m not so convinced people are as interested in hearing of my daily work schedule, the challenge of getting back into a routine of homeschooling the boys, of when and how I find time to clean the house and do the laundry.

Please don’t take offense, but I really don’t care that you might not find that fascinating. Fascinating is not how I’d describe it! Neither do I plan to bore you with those details. In fact, I really don’t care if writer’s block decides to confound me for a while. Right now I just sit here and feel ready to raise my hands triumphantly and yell out a glorious “Yes!”

Boring is good. Excitement is definitely overrated! Thank You, Lord, for boring!
